Frostbite Sailing

THE last two races in New Quay Yacht Club’s Frostbite dinghy racing series were held on Sunday, 25 March in glorious sunshine.

The north-west wind was a mere whisper for the first race testing the crews on their skills in light wind sailing. The breeze filled in for the second race and a perfect end to the series.

Results: Race 11: 1 Hannah Schaffer/ Jennifer Davies, Laser 2000; 2 Emlyn Owen, Laser; 3 Ian Jennings, Topaz Argo. Race 12: 1 Emlyn Owen, Laser; 2 Hannah Schaffer/Jennifer Davies, Laser 2000; 3 Ian Jennings, Argo.

The series final result was calculated with Tim Jeremy, Pico, winning the Frostbite 2018 title. Second were Hannah Schaffer/Jennifer Davies, Laser 2000 and third, Ian Jennings/Emlyn Owen, Argo.

Camera Club

NEW Quay Camera Club has some outstanding members who are more than willing to impart their knowledge to others and none more so than Viv Evans, who this week gave an illustrated guide, to his many walks through Snowdonia.

Spellbound, they were treated to the most stunning, seasonal, images of the coast and mountains, with map references to his walks. After a break for tea, Viv introduced his second passion, astronomy, with amazing images he’d taken from New Quay of planets, stars and distant galaxies. A truly exceptional evening was enjoyed by all.

The next meeting, on Thursday, 5 of April in the Memorial Hall will be a print and pdi, competition on the theme of ‘Holiday Highlights’ to be judged by guest judge, Diane Ashill ARPS.
