Music exams

THE following were successful in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams.

Theory: Grade 1: Alaw James, Lledrod (with Merit). Grade 4: Glain Llwyd Davies, Llandre; Dwynwen Jones, Gwnnws (with Merit); and Rhiannon Jones, Gwnnws (with Distinction). Grade 5: Catrin Lloyd, Tregaron (with Merit).

Piano exams: Prep Test: Ifan Williams and Mari Williams, Tregaron. Grade 1: Miriam Llwyd Davies, Llandre and Isabella Braddick, Swyddffynnon (with Merit). Grade 2: Alaw James, Lledrod.

WI

JULY has been a busy month with a visit to Royal Welsh Crystal in Rhayader on the fifth.

On 19 July, a 90th birthday party was held for Eiddwen Rees, who has been a WI member for 53 years.

There will be no meetings in August. The group meets again on 6 September at 1.30pm in Pantyfedwen Hall when the speaker will be Medwyn Parry from Blood Bikes Wales.

A warm welcome from the WI is extended to all women.

Carnival sports

THE winners in the carnival sports held on 1 July were as follows.

Three-legged race – Years 3-4: 1, Saran Aur Cerith and Tirion Sedgewick; 2, Ava-Marie Huddleston and Lily Fox; 3, Ifan Pugh and Gruff Sedgewick.

Years 5-6: 1, Emrys Jones and Gethin Evans; 2, Megan Davies and Matthew Huddleston.

Secondary school: 1, Megan Herberts and Rhiannon Jones; 2, Cari Davies and Dwynwen Jones; 3, Dion Wyn and Ffion Bankes.

Picnic

THE annual Bont Picnic will be held at Pantyfedwen Hall on Saturday, 29 July, from 4pm onwards.

The theme this year is Bont FC: Celebrating 70 Years. Bring your own food and drinks.
