WI

THE AGM was held at the November meeting.

WI adviser, Bethan Williams was presiding and the following members were elected: President, Stephanie Tebbutt; vice-president, Jenny Tillotson; secretary, Gay Evans; and treasurer, Lynne Lloyd.

Bethan Williams then spoke about women gaining the vote a century ago.

It was very interesting and informative as Bethan had spent a lot of time researching the subject.

The next meeting in the Memorial Hall, starting at 7.30pm is entitled ‘Pantomime’ and the presentation will be followed by mince pies and carols.

English Methodist Church

THE service on Sunday, 16 December, the third Sunday in Advent, will be held in the Pantyfedwen hall, Pontrhydfendigaid, led by Lavina Porter and beginning at 2.30pm.

A warm welcome to everyone.

Clwb Cerdded/Walking Club

THE next walk is scheduled for 26 December and has been organised by Dafydd Wyn Morgan, 07748 675 798

‘Tackle the Turkey trek’ is one of the club’s annual walks that brings people of all ages together for a festive footpath foray during the Christmas period. This was the club’s first walk back in 2003 that attracted 90 walkers on that cold day.

Make the most of the opportunity to meet new and old friends whilst taking in the great views the walk affords.

The faithful toy turkey Terwyn will join us too, the last turkey to be sold by Woolworths in December 2008.

The meeting point is outside Y Talbot at 10.30am.

The walk is to last approximately three hours and is graded a moderate walk which covers five miles with an ascent of 1240ft/380m.
