St Caron’s Church

ST Caron’s Mothers’ Union will be celebrating its 80th birthday with a grand concert on Friday, 25 May, at 7.30pm.

Guest soloist Huw Rhys Evans and Parti Ffrindiau will perform.

The celebrations will continue with a Flower Festival at the church from Saturday to Monday.

English Methodist Church

THE service on Sunday, 27 May, will be led by Rev Roger Hides in the Memorial Hall at 2.30pm.

Clwb Cerdded

THE next walk is scheduled for 9 June and has been organised by Bethan and Debbie.

The walk is entitled Llwybr Caradoc Jones Trail – from the abandoned Maesnant Outdoor Centre.

The walk is named after the first Welshman to climb Everest. Caradoc has been club president since 2003 and climbed Pumlumon first 50 years ago.

The walk starts from Maesnant Outdoor Centre and follows the Maesnant stream before joining the track up to Llyn Llygad Rheidol.

From here they will ascend Pumlumon Fach, then a steep section to the summit of Pumlumon Fawr.

The walk is to last approximately four hours and is graded a moderate walk, covering 3.5 miles with an ascent of 450m/1472ft.

The group will meet outside Y Talbot at 9.30am and return to Red Lion, Pontrhydfendigaid, afterwards for refreshments, including a free finger buffet.
