Organ concert

AN ORGAN concert is taking place in Meirionnydd.

On Tuesday, 29 May, Neuadd Pendre will host one of Britain’s best concert organists, Richard Hills.

Richard is one of the leading exponents of the theatre pipe organ today and is internationally acclaimed.

By the age of 14 was the over-all winner of the ATOS international Young Theatre Organist of the year competition in the USA.

Since then, he has benefited from numerous organ scholarships, culminating in one to Westminster Abbey.

He is now assistant organist at St Mary’s Bourne Street, London.

Richard is also a freelance musician; musical advisor for the Cinema Organ Society; active member of the Trocadero Wurlitzer Trust; fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and a popular concert organist for both theatre and classical performances.

His programme will include light and popular music through the ages - something for everyone.

The performance starts at 7.30pm.

Inner Wheel

THE members of the Tywyn Inner Wheel Club welcomed district chairman Sandra Morris from the Wirral, to the May meeting, held at Talyllyn restaurant.

Members heard about the chairman’s busy itinerary visiting all 30 clubs in the northern district.

Following an interesting talk, president Mair Worsey, presented Sandra Morris with a cheque to go towards her charity, Bees for Development.

Members also voted to donate a cheque of £100 to the Alzheimer’s Charity in memory of the late Sister Anna Pateman who was a faithful member of ours a few years ago.

The club’s next fundraiser will be a strawberry tea to be held in Abbeyfield Home on Tuesday, 19 June at 2.30pm.

Please come along and enjoy a super tea and visit the house.
