Madam,

As a former member of Cantre‘r Gwaelod Diving Club, Aberystwyth, I have seen first-hand the devastation that is caused to the ecology of the sea bed by dredging for scallops.

After scallop-fishing takes place the sea bed resembles a newly-ploughed field, which totally obliterates all other sea life in the area, affecting the whole food chain, plant and animal life. This takes years to regenerate.

In light of this, I must raise my concern at the proposed scallop dredging of Cardigan Bay, which will adversely affect local fishing and tourism.

Yours,John KidbyBryn Road,Aberystwyth
