A MACHYNLLETH man accused of claiming over £43,000 of benefits he wasn’t entitled to over a period of seven years will appear in Swansea Crown Court.

Vernon Davies, of Awelfa, 1 Maes Newydd, is facing four charges of dishonestly failing to notify authorities of a change of circumstance that would affect benefit entitlement.

The charges cover a period between August 2008 and March 2015.

No pleas have been entered by Davies.

Magistrates ruled the case should be heard in crown court and released Davies, 65, on unconditional bail until a hearing at the crown court on 28 July.
