A 55-year-old Machynlleth man sent around 80 messages a day to his wife of 34 years after she told him that she was leaving him, magistrates heard.

Dolgellau court was told that Victoria Pymm thought that her husband, Kevin (pictured), was contemplating taking his own life and that she became very distressed by the tone of the messages.

One message stated that Mrs Pymm would have to explain the consequences to their kids and this scared her so much that she called the police for her husband to get help.

Kevin Pymm pleaded guilty to harassment without violence between 21 and 25 February and making unwanted phone calls which included making threats to kill himself.
