A NEWCASTLE Emlyn man has been jailed for four weeks following “sustained” harrassment of a woman that left her in “distress”.

Llanelli magistrates heard on 21 December that Ricky Brooks, of Cambrian House, Sycamore Street, had committed harassment without violence of Narda Martle from 29 August 2020 to 15 September 2021 in Newcastle Emlyn.

Incidents included shouting ‘boo’ to her and called her a stupid woman, threatening to get rid of her garden, calling her a weirdo, walking close to her and coughing in her direction, moving her ceramic cat, standing and staring at her, and being verbally abusive and playing the radio loudly, the court heard.

Brooks, 49, pleaded not guilty to the charges - which included two separate offences of using threatening behaviour - at a hearing in October but was found guilty following a trial.

He was jailed for four weeks.
