A Porthmadog man has been jailed for four years after admitting sexual activity with an underage girl.

Leon David Owen, 37, of Chapel Street, Porthmadog, admitted penetrative sexual activity with a girl under 16.

During sentencing yesterday (Thursday) at Caernarfon Crown Court, Owen, who used to live in Barmouth, was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.

After the sentencing, DC Dave Maccall of North Wales Police said: “Child sexual exploitation is a despicable crime, and one we take extremely seriously.

“We will continue to pursue perpetrators vigorously, in order to keep our communities as safe as possible.”
