THE alleged management team of Mid Wales Motor Homes, which used to be based at Capel Dewi near Aberystwyth, have each been cleared today of three charges of theft.

Catherine Jones, 54, and her husband John Jones, 58, of Dilwyn, Hereford, and Stephen Jones, 56, of Gullan, East Lothian, had been on trial at Swansea Crown Court accused of stealing almost £90,000 from customers.

At the end of the prosecution case Judge Huw Davies instructed the jury to return verdicts of not guilty. The trio had always denied the allegations.

They had been the only charges faced by Stephen Jones and he was discharged from the case.

Judge Davies ordered that his entire defence costs should be paid out of public funds.

Judge Davies brought the trial to an end and ordered a new one against John Jones and his wife on fraud charges. John Jones is charged with three offences of fraud by making false statements. Catherine Jones faces two charges of fraud.

They maintain their pleas of not guilty. A seven-day trial will begin on 15 August.

The defendants were granted bail meanwhile.
