A Fairbourne pensioner who stabbed his wife to death on Christmas Day has been found not guilty of murdering her.

Thomas Bryan, 76, was however found guilty of an alternative charge of manslaughter at Caernarfon Crown Court earlier today following a 10-day trial.

He had been accused of murdering Vivienne Bryan, 74, at their bungalow on Francis Avenue, Fairbourne, on Christmas Day 2019 after she tried to stop him from having another drink.

The couple had been married for 53 years.

Bryan denied murdering her but admitted a charge of manslaughter.

He will be sentenced on Friday, 10 July.
