A CARDIGAN teenager who pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and without insurance has been banned from the road and ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Saul McGrath, of 68 Bro Teifi, appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates last week.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking in Crymych on 5 June last year.

The court heard that after McGrath was involved in the taking of a red Ford Fiesta, a collision caused “significant damage” to the car and another, and resulted in injury to another man.

McGrath was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay £575 in compensation along with costs of £85 and a £34 surcharge.
