A defibrillator has been installed in Borth, thanks to community donations.
Borth Community Hub saw an unlocked, 24/7 defibrillator installed last week, thanks to donations from the hub, Borth Community Council and local residents.
General manager of the hub, Helen Williams, said: “It’s located on the wall at the front of Borth Community Hub. The cabinet is always unlocked and can be used 24/7.
“We purchased the defibrillator from Welsh Hearts and would like to thank all those who donated including Borth Community Council and the residents of The Cliff area of Borth.
“A huge thank you to JC Electrical Services of Llandre for installing the device free of charge.”
When a defibrillator is used to restart a heart during cardiac arrest, the survival rate can increase up to 74 percent. But a speedy response is crucial.
Helen said fundraising for the defibrillator began in March 2020 but later slowed due to the pandemic.
While Helen said the defibrillator is easy to use, the hub are looking at running outside, socially distanced sessions on how to use the defibrillator in the future.
