Madam,
On seeing Keith Barber’s concern (last week’s Cambrian News, ‘Roll on the bypass to make things safer’), I must add mine. Some time ago when asked to fill in a questionnaire for changes to the A497, I suggested that double white lines should be all the way down to the Bryn Deiliog junction from beyond the 30mph sign.
Also because of the speeding and absence of pavements, I called for the introduction of a 20mph limit.
Vehicles set off the flashing 30mph sign and then make a beeline before Bryn Deiliog junction on the wrong side of the road, but not indicating to pass cars parked further down, even with oncoming traffic.
This is made worse by the fact it is difficult to see vehicles approaching from the right even with a provided road mirror, which is too small and not high enough. Since the road surfacing began most of the dangers have diminished.
Yours etc,
Chris Smith
Bryn Deiliog, Llanbedr.
