TWO local businesses have been thanked for assisting with the purchase of a new minibus.

Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn has been forced to make use of a minibus from Dolgellau over the last few months in order to transport students around.

That has all changed thanks to donations by local businesses.

A spokesperson for the school said: “Our old school mini bus has finally given up the ghost and is now in mini bus heaven.

“The old bus served our pupils and staff very well over the years and I‘m sure that many will have fond memories of trips and journeys taken to places near and far, during their time in school.

“However, we now have a gleaming new minibus: a Ford Transit, 17-seater, silver grey, in mint condition and ready to take the baton and run with it for our current pupils and all those still to come. Naturally, we expect that all who use the mini bus will look after it, treat it with respect and help us to keep it clean and in good order.

“As well as our school name and logo our new mini bus also bears the names of two local businesses, namely CHC Waste Facilities Management Ltd and the Talyllyn Railway, both of whom have very kindly provided sponsorship to support the financing of the bus.

“We are extremely grateful to both of these companies for their generous support and in return, we are happy to support their businesses in this way.

“We look forward to new adventures in our new bus!”
