An Aberystwyth school which was partly converted for use as an emergency Covid hospital will be ready for pupils to return to in September.

A spill-over facility in case of Bronglais being overrun was set up in Ysgol Penweddig and next-door Plascrug Leisure Centre at the beginning of the pandemic.

The facilities have not needed to be used so far.

When pupils returned to school last week, pupils at Penweddig attended lessons at Aberystwyth University, due to the modifications at their school.

But a council meeting has been told that field hospitals will remain in two council leisure centres – Cardigan and Plascrug – while Ysgol Penweddig will be ready for pupils in September.
