The Meirionnydd Artists Society (MAS) is believed to be the oldest active members’ art society in Wales.

Established in 1958 it has a current membership of over 60 artists, some professional, some amateur and some beginners. It is a welcoming friendly and inclusive society.

All that is needed for membership is a love of art and some creative urge.

The highlight of its year is the annual MAS Art Exhibition where every member can exhibit their work.

It will be held this year at Tŷ Siamas, Eldon Square, Dolgellau from Saturday, 20 August, to Thursday, 1 September, and open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Entry is free and there will be around 140 paintings on show with some real bargains to be had.

“The recent pandemic has caused the society to suspend its annual exhibition for two years so we are very much looking forward to seeing the work our artists have been creating during this difficult lock down period,” a society spokesperson said.

“MAS are always looking for new members and support them by organising regular workshops and painting days covering different media and genres throughout the year.

“Come along, be inspired by the exhibition, buy original art work and join the society.”
