AN exhibition organised to celebrate the Year of the Sea has unearthed some interesting old images from throughout Gwynedd.

The With the Tide exhibition at Storiel in Bangor, gives a glimpse in to the area’s maritime history.

These images show ships docked in Aberdyfi and a fishing boat at Barmouth unloading its catch circa 1900.

A selection of interesting items from the collections at Storiel and Gwynedd Council Archives Service appear alongside photographs like these, which are not usually on display.

You can delve deeper into the seafaring history of north-west Wales by visiting the maritime museums at Porthmadog, Nefyn, Holyhead and Barmouth.

The With the Tide exhibition runs until 15 September at Storiel museum and art gallery, which is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 11am to 5pm.
