A two-minute silence was observed last Wednesday, 11 November, at Owain Glyndwr Square, Aberystwyth, to remember all those who lost their lives in wars.

Setting off after the service was Michael Whitty, originally from Australia, who served with the RAAF for nine years, cycling to Gallipoli where his grandfather Ian James Whitty served during the First World War. He started his journey from Ambleside Lake District and is hoping to be in Turkey for Christmas.

Pictured right, with Mr Whitty are Ben Davies, Walford Hughes MBE, Glyn Griffiths RBL, Martin Alexander, RBL and Lt Col Patrick Norringhton-Davies, president Aberystwyth RBL. Mr Whitby is holding a diary that his grandfather kept whilst fighting during the First World War
