A SPECIAL screening of a film documenting the historic link between Patagonia and Wales is set to take place in Bala next week.

The showpiece film Patagonia will be on display in Neuadd Buddug at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 2 December.

The evening will also include a question and answer session with Patagonia producer Rebekah Gilbertson and other creative talent involved in the Welsh/Spanish film.

Patagonia narrates the journeys of two women, Cerys and Gwen - one looking for her past, the other for her future.

The film interweaves their stories, in which one of them travels south to north through the Welsh springtime and the other east to west through the Argentine autumn.

Cerys is an elderly diabetic Argentine who lives in the southern Andes who tricks her family and escapes to Wales to discover her heritage.

Gwen is Welsh and travels with her partner to Patagonia on a rollercoaster voyage of love and intrigue.

Both stories are intertwined to give a unique perspective on the fascinating link between two countries.

As well as the film celebrating 150 years since the Welsh landed in South America, there will also be a raffle held in aid of keeping Neuadd Buddug open.
