Flags are flying at half-mast across Ceredigion to mark the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Ceredigion County Council has paid tribute to Prince Philip. Its chairman, Cllr Gareth Davies, is to write to The Queen to express the county’s ‘great sadness’.

In a statement, the council said: “Ceredigion County Council joins the nation in sending deepest sympathies to Her Majesty The Queen and The Royal Family following the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

“Cllr Gareth Davies will express deepest sympathies on behalf of members, staff and residents following today’s announcement from Buckingham Palace.

“Flags are flying at half-mast at Canolfan Alun R Edwards, Aberystwyth; Canolfan Rheidol, Aberystwyth; Neuadd Cyngor Ceredigion, Aberaeron; and County Hall, Aberaeron.”
