Talyllyn Railway is offering free train travel this week to residents of the village of Abergynolwyn needing to travel to or from Tywyn whilst connecting roads are closed.

From Wednesday, 26 June to Friday, 28 June, Talyllyn will be giving the local community the chance to board their trains for free on their daily commute.

The trains will act as a replacement for buses, as daytime bus travel between Abergynolwyn and Tywyn has been heavily affected by the roadworks on the B4405.

Stuart Williams, general manager of the railway, said: “Having heard of the road closure and the temporary suspension of most of the daytime bus services between Abergynolwyn and Tywyn, we thought that we could make this offer as part of our commitment to the local community.

“Public transport links are vital in rural areas and we are delighted that the railway can serve the community in this way as it has done for the past 150 years”.
