A SIGHT-SAVING charity has received a four-figure sum from the Tywyn branch of Freemasons.

The Brethren of Corbet Lodge 1583 raised £1,583 for Sight Cymru.

The branch, which was established in 1877, urges its members to “regard the interests of the family as paramount” but most importantly Freemasonry also “teaches and practices concern for people, care for those less fortunate and help for those in need”.

Sight Cymru offer services to mitigate the impacts of sensory loss to people in Wales, including eye clinic support and rehabilitation for the vision impaired, counselling, emotional support, befriending, activities, telephone helpline, social activities, training and a comprehensive resource centre offering advice, information and advocacy.

The charity also encourages preventative strategies to avoid blindness.
