FIVE pals from Cardigan will be setting out on a non-stop 60-mile trek from the town to Ynyslas on the Dyfi Estuary at 4am this Saturday to raise funds for three local worthy causes.

They decided to take on the challenge of the Ceredigion coast path following a chat during a pool match towards the end of last year.

Builders merchants manager Mathew Morgan, teacher William Bowen, builder Gareth Owen, solicitor Alan Lewis and care director Neil Griffiths are in strict training for the march north that will start at dawn at the bronze otter statue adjacent to Prince Charles Quay and hopefully will be completed sometime on Sunday morning.

The walkers, who are raising funds for Cardigan Cancer Care, Cardigan Swimming Pool and the local branch of the RNLI, will be supported for the whole journey by friends, including renowned local endurance athlete Clive Evans.

“Helping the three very worthwhile charities drives us on as we all support the causes and hope to give them a substantial financial boost,” said William.

Sponsorship forms are available at Taylor-Lewis Solicitors, Keith Davies Butcher, Hair Lounge for Men and Jewson’s Builders Merchants.
