A new charity shop on Aberystwyth’s high street will be officially opened next Wednesday.

Secret Millionaire and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Rob Lloyd will do the honours and open the Sense shop, situated in the former M&Co building on Great Darkgate Street.

Rob will be passing through Aberystwyth as part of a 379-mile fundraising challenge, which will see him run, cycle and walk from Wrexham to Newport over 10 consecutive days.

Rob’s charity shop challenge is the latest in his year of fundraising for Sense, which has seen him take on an extreme challenge every month since March 2021, raising over £75,000

Proceeds from Sense’s new shop in Aberystwyth will go towards Sense services in Wales, which support families and people with complex disabilities.

The shop will sell a wide range of donated goods, including women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as accessories, books, media and small electrical goods. Sense are now looking for volunteers and donated goods.

Darryl Neville, head of retail at Sense, said: “We’ve been blown away by Rob’s support for Sense and are now thrilled to welcome him to open our new Sense shop in Aberystwyth.

“We’re really excited about the shop opening. We pride ourselves on being more than a charity shop. We aim to create hubs for the community where people can stop by for a chat.

“We have a great team of volunteers to help run the shop, but we’d love to welcome more. Volunteering is a brilliant way to meet new people and learn new skills.

The local community can show their support by volunteering, supporting us with donated stock, or just dropping by to say hello.”

Rob Lloyd will attend the grand opening of the Aberystwyth Sense shop at 10am on Wednesday, 8 December.
