Three German football fans have hailed their trip to see Aberystwyth play as the highlight of a visit to the UK to take in a string of games.

Kevin Conge, Andreas Junger and Max Von Beissel took in four games, including Premier League games between Brighton and Bournemouth and West Ham and Leicester, before watching Swansea take on Barnsley in the Championship and finishing their trip by seeing Aberystwyth Town FC narrowly lose out to Newtown.

The four fans are all from the North Rhine Region and Westphalia and are Schalke 04 supporters.

David Evans, the vice-chairman of Aberystwyth Town, said the three German football fans had been given a tour of Park Avenue and met the players and Gavin Allen in the clubhouse after the game.

He said: “They were leaving the next morning to return to Germany, but have said they will follow all our results and hope to return to our beautiful town and club again in the near future.”

Kevin said the three friends had found their trip to Aberystwyth was the highlight of the short visit.

He said: “The way to Aberystwyth was already a highlight for us Germans.

“Nice landscapes combined with lots of green and pretty little villages were surely one of the highlights of our road trip.

“As soon as we arrived we got overwhelmed of the kindness and friendliness of the Welsh people."
