PEOPLE are being reminded not to visit an Aberystwyth care home following an outbreak of coronavirus cases earlier this week.

An incident has been declared at Hafan y Waun care home after a number of residents and staff tested positive for Covid-19 earlier in the week.

As a multi-agency team respond to the outbreak, Ceredigion County Council are reminding members of the public not to visit the site on Waunfawr.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Staff and residents at MHA Hafan y Waun Care Home are grateful for the kindness shown to them during this difficult time.

“However, people who wish to offer gifts and parcels are asked not to take them to the care home themselves.

“Arrangements have been made for these to be dropped off at Waunfawr Community Centre, Brynceinion, Waunfawr, Aberystwyth SY23 3PN on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 12pm, starting from Friday 13 November.

"People should ensure they place the name of the individual the parcel is for on the pack.

“Fresh foods and flowers will not be accepted for the time being.”

A multi-agency Incident Management Team has been established to respond to the incident at the Care Home and Ceredigion County Council is working closely with the Home, Hywel Dda University Health Board and Public Health Wales to contain the virus.
