MORE than 4,500 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across Wales today -with the rate of infection jumping to over 600 cases per 100,000.

The latest figures released this lunch time show that 4,662 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded nationwide with the rate of infection now standing at 609.7 cases per 100,000 population.

Ceredigion has recorded 102 new cases today with Carmarthenshire recording 210 and Pembrokeshire, 153.

163 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Gwynedd with Powys recording 117.

Three deaths have been recorded today, taking the total number of suspected Covid-19 fatalities to 6,525.

Of the deaths recorded today, one has been in the Hywel Dda Health Board region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, taking the total number of deaths to 622.

One new deaths has also been recorded in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region of north Wales, taking its total number of deaths to 1,127.

Powys has not recorded any new deaths today, with its total remaining at 86.
