HIGHWAYS officials will consider whether free patient parking can be provided at the front of the North Road Eye Clinic.

The council operates the North Road car park as a pay-and-display car park, and there is some dedicated patient parking there, which is not charged for. However, those spaces could be moved closer to the clinic.

Philip Jones, of Hywel Dda Health Board, said the board was asked if the council could reallocate those spaces to be in front of the clinic to ensure patients with possible sight issues can access the clinic easily.

Mr Jones said: “It’s an option we’re asking the council to consider. Are there some spaces that could be used in front of the clinic?”

Highways Cabinet member Alun Williams backed the suggestion and said he would like to see a site meeting between council and health board representatives to discuss the best location for the patient spaces.

He said: “I think we need a site meeting and for the health board and the council to have some discussion.”
