THE LONG-AWAITED new multi-million pound health centre in Cardigan has moved a step closer to reality after being given the green light by planners.

Full planning permission for the proposed integrated care centre at the town’s Bath House site was granted by members of Ceredigion council’s planning committee last week.

Chair of the Friends of Cardigan Hospital group, David Grace, told members that the development was “important for the town”.

“We have been fighting for this for years,” he said.

“This building will secure the health service for the future.”

Members unanimously passed the plans which will incorporate a GP practice, a community pharmacy, community dental services and other services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, orthotics, speech and language therapy, diagnostic services including X-Ray, and rehabilitation (see artist’s impression right).
