A REPRESENTATIVE of the Welsh Ambulance Service has allayed fears that Tywyn will lose its ambulance service.

Fears had been raised within the community that Tywyn’s ambulance station was to close and services centralised in Dolgellau.

However, David Hughes, a representative of the Welsh Ambulance Service, was quick to dispel the notion and assured residents there were no plans to remove the facility from the town when he spoke to the town council recently.

In fact, Mr Hughes went on to explain, the town is in line to upgrade the ambulance station as the current building is “a little worse for wear” and the new, larger ambulance vehicles are no longer able to fit through the archway adjacent to the station.

Pendre Industrial Estate and former Health Centre have been suggested as two potential sites for a new ambulance base in Tywyn.
