HEAVY rain caused severe flooding on several roads in Ceredigion, causing chaos, confusion and mild panic among motorists on Sunday.

The A487 was affected by flooding between Bow Street and Talybont where residents feared a repeat of the terrible 2012 floods.

A raging torrent at Capel Dewi led to the A4159 being blocked off by police. People trying to get back to Penrhyncoch later in the afternoon found there was no way home.

The A44 at Lovesgrove was also badly affected.

There were also problems at Pen-bont-rhyd-y-beddau and Talsarn, near Lampeter.

Many householders were forced to take action to avoid their homes being flooded by unblocking ditches and trying to divert the water.

Luckily the rain subsided in the evening and by Monday morning most of the floods had disappeared.
