HEAVY rain over the Christmas weekend putting the River Aeron in spate brought down a large ash tree on the right hand, upstream, bank just above Lovers Bridge in Aberaeron creating a new wier.

This morning, further storms were said to have left a number of homes in Ceredigion without electricity.

But apart from small areas of flooding, including in Llanbadarn, the county escaped largely unscathed this week from Storm Frank.
