HORSE RIDERS descended on Porthmadog over the weekend to take part in a national event to raise awareness of road safety.

Rides took place across the UK as part of the Pass Wide and Slow road safety campaign.

Horses and their riders from as far afield as Bangor and Anglesey congregated in Porthmadog on Sunday to take part in the campaign.

They also managed to raise £200 for the Wales Air Ambulance in the process.

The route went from The Traeth, up the main street and along the Cob into Portmeirion Bridlepaths, which led to Castell Deudreaeth where refreshments were served.

Drivers along the route were courtious and pedestrians very supportive.

Organisers would like to thank all the helpers, riders and drivers who gave up their own time for the campaign.
