Madam,
Residents in Bro-Henllys, Felinfach, who rent garages at the top of the site have been shocked to receive a rent demand of £309 per annum. This represents a 1300 percent increase over the £24 per annum it used to cost. This increase was authorised by the council Cabinet without any prior consultation with the people concerned in Bro Henllys. How can the council justify such an outrageous increase?
Some people are suspicious that the council want the land for housing and, instead of consultation, chose to increase the rent by such an amount that they hope that the garages will be given up and if not then taken off them for non-payment. No-one from the council has ever been around to discuss these matters with the residents. Where is the democracy and common decency in this? I think that members of this elected Cabinet need reminding the we live in an open democracy and not a dictatorship as some of them obviously believe they do.
Yours etc
