ABERYSTWYTH and Machynlleth were both lit up over the weekend had their Christmas lights switched on.

Aberystwyth’s event featured a lantern parade from St Michaels church, with children showing off their hand-made lanterns from workshops earlier in the month, as well as over £2,400 in new lights purchased this year by the town council.

Despite the rain and wind, hundreds of people turned out for the Christmas market, to see the entertainment and to watch mayor Cllr Endaf Evans switch on the new lights.
