Young mountain bikers of all ages and abilities in mid Wales are invited to get out and ride this winter.

As part of the Powys Winter of Wellbeing, Bike Corris are delighted to offer a series of coached and

guided cycles sessions in and around Machynlleth from January to March 2022.

Running until the end of March, sessions will be available for all abilities. From toddlers taking

their first steps on balance bikes, to teenagers looking to start racing, British Cycling qualified

guides and coaches will provide help and advice to aspiring riders for free!

Bike Corris previously ran similar sessions over the summer of 2021. These were very well

received by young riders. One parents reported: “Both my boys attended and really grew in

confidence. Not only did it help them learn new skills, but it helped them explore the local area,

gave them essential social time with their friends”.

Bike Corris owner, David Evans (42), said:

“After the success of our summer programme I am delighted to provide more sessions in an area

full of keen and enthusiastic young riders. Thanks to the Powys County Council grant, we have

extended our offering to cater for more advance riders, as well as those taking their first steps on a

bike. Best of all, the kids can attend for free!”

Coach Rik Barratt (31) added: “This summer we had the opportunity to take mountain biking to some new members of the

community and to develop riders that might not be able to afford coaching or tuition. This Winter

alongside Powys council we have another chance to run a free mountain biking programme for

kids. I can’t wait to see some new faces, see more youngsters smiling on bikes, progressing to the

next level, gaining confidence and most importantly having fun and playing bikes !”
