Legendary Led Zeppelin front-man Robert Plant is to perform at Aberystwyth Arts Centre days before Christmas.

Robert Plant, who is often seen in the Aberystwyth area, will be performing at the Arts Centre with his new band, Saving Grace.

The band feature Robert Plant and Suzi Dian - vocals, Oli Jefferson - percussion, Tony Kelsey – mandolin, baritone and acoustic guitars and Matt Worley – banjo, cuatro, acoustic and baritone guitars.

Robert Plant’s connection with this part of mid Wales spans back to his childhood.

Led Zeppelin famously decamped to Bron yr Aur cottage near Machynlleth – a cottage then owned by Robert’s family as a holiday home - after a hectic world tour in 1970 and proceeded to write some of their best songs, including in part, Stairway to Heaven.

He has often said that the rugged Welsh landscape in mid and west Wales helps inspire his writing.

His latest band, Saving Grace, who will be performing in Aberystwyth on Tuesday, 21 December, was formed in 2019 and has performed a number of gigs in the UK this year, after a US tour planned for 2020 had to be cancelled due to Covid.

The five musicians work in harmony, reworking a selection of diverse cover versions that have been collected from various places to create a musical journey.

Tickets are £32.50 and are available on Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s website.
