Foodbank
THE SALVATION Army has asked that as well as food, could residents think about items that are suitable for gifts for children for Christmas, in particular, gifts for children aged between 7 and 12 years, and also for teenagers. Please keep these unwrapped. If you are able to help, add them to the food box or hand them into the health food shop in Llanidloes. Otherwise, please let Sandra Wheeler have them and she will see that they get to the right place.

Art sale
THERE will be an art sale in Chatwood – previously the HSBC building, Longbridge Street – from 27 to 29 November. Free tea, coffee and mince pies is available.There will be a large selection of pictures to suit all budgets, two framed limited edition pictures and other prizes to be won in a raffle.Raffles and donations are in aid of the Noah’s Ark Appeal.
Rotary Club
THE CLUB put their tree-felling skills to test last week, whilst arranging the town’s annual Christmas tree. The switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights will take place on Saturday, 28 November, with the usual fun and activities. The club will be raffling their annual hamper in aid of Rotary good causes, and will also be selling tickets for the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, who will visit Llanidloes on Saturday, 5 March.Rotarians braved Storm Abigail on Thursday and Friday to marshal the Wales Rally GB. Spectators arrived in a steady flow through Thursday night and the early hours of Friday in preparation for the first stage at 9.30am.The club was responsible for the area around Cwmbiga where SS1 and SS4 were staged, ensuring all those attending were in receipt of a ticket on behalf of the rally. Along with ticket sales, Rotarians manned road blocks and controlled car parks. The storm threw all it had at those marshal-ling, but failed to wash away their smiles. The club would like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their time to work alongside the Rotarians ensuring the rally was another success.
Tadpoles
CHRISTIAN fun for under-5s, babies and pre-school children, with parents or carers takes place at St Llanidloes Church Hall on Wednesday, 2 and 16 December, from 10am to noon.For any enquiries, contact Julia on 413977.
Christmas lights
THE CHRISTMAS lights switch-on ceremony will take place on Saturday, 28 November. Great Oak Street will be closed to traffic at 4pm for local charities to set up their fund-raising stalls. Contact Carol’s Hair Salon (412644) or Ruth Townsend Woolshop (412803) for further details.
Brass band
LOCAL brass players in Llanidloes are meeting to resurrect the Llanidloes Brass Band. THE DRAMA-BASED education programme, Bin it!, which educates students about responsibility and litter, came to Llanidloes High School.In its 10th annual nationwide tour of schools, the Bin it! tour encourages young people to work together to make a lasting change to local areas and keep their environment tidy.
