THE family of a “bubbly and friendly” 21-year-old Aberystwyth mother have spoken of their “unbearable pain” after her sudden death last week.

HM Coroner for Ceredigion Peter Brunton has opened an inquest into the death of Zena Hughes, whose body was found at her home in Bridge Street at around 3.15pm on Thursday, 29 March.

Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

This week, the family of Zena, who leaves behind a five-year-old son, Joshua, have described the “unbearable pain” at their loss of a daughter and sister who “carried many burdens”.

A family statement said: “Zena was a loving mother, a kind and gentle sister, and a very hard worker.

“She shined as bright as a diamond and could lift a dampened spirit.

“Her baby boy Joshua was the king of her heart — she found it extremely difficult to live life apart.

“Life became heavy and she carried many burdens that were just too hard to share. If only she knew how many people were ready to care.

“It is a sad and tragic end that leaves a hole in our hearts.

“Oh Zena bach this pain is unbearable, but it is good to know you are ‘at peace’. Until we meet again, thanks for being true to yourself sweet. Love you now and forever.”
