THE sun shone down on Machynlleth Comedy Festival at the weekend as people packed into the Plas, Owain Glyndwr Centre, the Woodland Pavilion and other venues throughout the town.

The festival, which ran for three days from Friday, played host to comedians including Rhod Gilbert, Nish Kumar and Mark Watson. Theatre, music and more also entertained the crowds.

This was the ninth Machynlleth Comedy Festival. The event has grown each year and festival directors Emma Butler and Henry Widdicombe are grateful for the support they have received.

“Over our nine years the festival has become a very special place for performers, and we feel very proud of what’s been created,” they said.

“Comedians come to the festival as much to relax and have fun as they do to perform and that is testament to what the festival stands for. This event can only happen due to the hard work and dedication of the incredibly talented team you see working on the weekend so please thank them.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the role you play in the event. The audiences at Machynlleth are renowned for being amongst the most welcoming you can find in the UK, if not the world, and that is squarely down to you.”
