Madam,
Following last week’s General Election result, may I use your columns to pay public tribute to outgoing MP Mark Williams in two particular areas of his constituency work over the last dozen years.
First, I extend my appreciation as former vice-president of the UCU university academic staff trade union (2011-14) for Mark’s tireless and constructive involvement helping hard-pressed members on the campus during the recent difficult years for higher education in west Wales.
Second, as former president of the Royal British Legion (Aberystwyth branch), 2012-15, I want to record my thanks for Mark’s unfailing respect for and assistance to the armed forces and veterans community.
