A WANDERING cuckoo who simply cannot get enough of Ceredigion is being tracked by bird experts as he migrates home from wintering grounds in Africa.

David, a five-year-old male cuckoo, was first tagged at Tregaron in May 2012, and observers at the British Trust for Ornithology have established he has returned there each spring for the past four years.

The intrepid traveller is currently in the region of the Senegal/Gabon border in west Africa and – all being well – is expected to touch down in his beloved Tregaron sometime in the next fortnight.

“He obviously likes Tregaron because he keeps coming back there,” Kelvin Jones, the BTO’s development and engagement officer in Wales, told the Cambrian News.
