Madam,

Liz Saville-Roberts has savaged the ‘bung’, as Carwyn Jones rightly calls it, given to the DUP by the Tories to keep them in power. She is quite right to.

Her criticism highlights how ridiculous it is to have May as PM with DUP connivance, when power-sharing in Northern Ireland, the best solution to date there, can only work if the government is seen as impartial to both the DUP and Sinn Fein.

The Premiership would be better held, and government initiatives in Northern Ireland better balanced, by Jeremy Corbyn, whose sympathies with the Republicans are well-known, whilst the DUP would have the comfort of its own presence in Westminster and widespread support there among the Tories.

Well done, Mrs Saville-Roberts. I expect her next step to be a courageous call, loud and clear, for a Corbyn Premiership.

Yours etc, Ian MacIntyre, Shelbourne Court, St John’s Hill, Barmouth.
