Last year there were many reasons why Aberystwyth appeared to be neglected and dirty. This year the town and county councils have no excuse.

The town needs its visitors: Aberystwyth looks dirty, confusing and uninviting: the streets are dirty (where are the pressure washers?), there are no flowers (Covid cannot be caught from plants, look at the Penparcau Hub), simply driving and parking are more difficult than ever (why do this now?). Why cancel the donkeys? (they bring enjoyment).

The removal of the planters before they could be used this summer is particularly baffling: why not ask for sponsorship and volunteers to carry out the task of maintaining the flowers?

To prevent traffic build-up, the park and ride (which benefitted the elderly residents as much as visitors) should be reintroduced, improving access to the hospital and library.

Common sense efforts by councillors are required to improve the situation. I look forward to a reply from them explaining why this situation has been allowed to arise and how things can improve.
