Madam,

It saddens me to see how little regard some people have for our beautiful environment. Every day I travel along the A487 from Machynlleth to Aberystwyth and every verge is covered in litter.

I complained to the Welsh Assembly about this back in January and my email was passed on to both Powys and Ceredigion county councils.

Powys at least replied and said the litter would be removed, which hasn’t yet happened. Ceredigion have not even replied.

This area relies so much on tourism but what a horrible welcome people receive as they drive along our local roads. It seems that no-one cares, neither the people who mindlessly throw rubbish from their cars nor our local authorities.

Yours etc,

Jean Hewitt, address supplied.
