COVID won’t cancel Christmas in Cardigan!

That’s the message from a group of local organisations who have come together to arrange a free hot Christmas meal for those who need it in the town.

With the usual seasonal helping hand get-togethers cancelled, local groups and volunteers have come together to work out a way of spreading socially distanced festive cheer on Christmas Day.

The idea is the brainchild of volunteer worker Gwyneth Jones, who enlisted the help of town mayor Cllr Clive Davies to co-ordinate a meeting between a number of local organisations.

“We had a virtual meeting between a number of volunteer and charitable groups and quickly brought together a set of actions to reach those that will be missing out on the annual free Christmas dinner,” said Cllr Davies.

“I would like to thank the Community Connectors, CAVO, Age Cymru Dyfed, the Cardigan Covid response group and Hywel Dda Health Authority for their involvement to make this happen in the town,” he added.

The group is looking for funding, but the town council has agreed to give up to £1,250 to the project.

If anyone who like to volunteer to help deliver the meals between noon and 3pm on Christmas Day contact [email protected] or ring 07402255010.

“Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye so if you can help this worthwhile cause please get in touch,” said Cllr Davies.
