Two Dwyfor nurses are taking part in a challenge to raise money for vital research into Motor Neurone Disease.

Lynwen Griffiths and Gwenan Thomas are in the middle of their 7 in 7 challenge.

Set up by The Motor Neurone Disease Association, the fundraising event sees participants setting their own individual challenges involving the number seven.

Lynwen, a community nurse for Betsi Cadwaladr in the Dwyfor area and Gwenan, a practice nurse at Botwnnog Surgery, have decided to walk 77 miles over seven consecutive days to raise awareness and donations towards The Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“As well as being a nurse, I also volunteer as an associate visitor forh The Motor Neurone Disease Association,” Lynwen explained.

“This involves supporting people affected with motor neurone, both those with the disease and those close to them, and that’s where the idea to take on the 7 in 7 challenge came from.

“We are walking 77 miles over 7 consecutive days.

“We started on Saturday, 3 April, and complete the walk this Friday, on 9 April.

“All the money raised will be donated to support families affected with motor neurone and will also fund vital research in the search for a cure for MND.”

The nurses have set up a just giving page and have raised £2,005 in just one week.

“We would like to say thank you to everyone who has donated so far,” Lynwen added.
