ABERYSTWYTH’S Park and Ride bus service is being axed following secret talks which councillors did not know about.
A row erupted when councillors first got to know about the decision at a traffic management meeting in the town on Monday.
They were angry to learn that council officers had held meetings with Hywel Dda Health Board representatives about the loss of the bus service from August.
Highways Cabinet member Alun Williams admitted that he was aware that withdrawing the Park and Ride service in town was being considered as “corporate savings” and that a report to the council’s Cabinet would be submitted “shortly”.
But Cllr Ceredig Davies said he was “astounded” that councillors had not been informed of what was being discussed.
He said: “I wasn’t aware the Park and Ride was ending in August.
This should have been top of this agenda.
“I’m very disappointed that this committee has been sidelined when it comes to such an important issue as this.”
